Public bug reported:

On a clean Gutsy install, my digital sound is distorted (like when
volumes are too high, but unfortunately lowering the volume in the
mixers does not fix this issue).

the AD198x Analog output sounds OK, but the AD198x digital with digital
cable is distorted. (this is an onboard soundcard, works OK in windows.)

I've got the distortion on all applications, from the Ubuntu login-sound
to Amarok.

I had it fixed one time, I thought by muting and un-muting my mixer-outputs,
but unfortunately that does not seem to work either.
Reloading /etc/init.d/alsa-utils does not work either.
