I am stuck. I went back and did a full Feisty install after reading a
lot of suggestions in Ubuntu launchpad and Ubuntu forums that this might
be a good idea. I have network-manager-pptp installed.

I only can see the vpn connections from the network-manager menu when my
eth0 (wired) is enabled or if my wireless card is put into roaming mode.
However, in roaming mode, I cannot connect to my network. I use a
128-bit pass phrase.

When I try to connect, I get this error:

Oct 10 19:42:44 slapazine NetworkManager: <information>^IWill activate VPN
connection 'arl_vpn', service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.ppp_starter',

nm_vpn_manager_activate_vpn_connection ():
nm_vpn_manager_activate_vpn_connection(): no currently active network device,
won't activate VPN.

So, I may only have one problem, but I see it in two parts.

1) Why does network-manager require that eth0 be activated to display
the VPN Connections menu?

2) Why is the connection failing?

Any help would be appreciated. I'll upload any files you would like.
Please let me know what to upload.
