Binary package hint: usplash
I've got a Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT hooked up to a ViewSonic G90f monitor. During
boot, when the splash screen should show the
monitor turns itself off, and doesn't turn back on until X starts.
I've personally solved the problem by removing the "splash" boot option, but
"monitor turns off for 30 seconds during boot" is a somewhat
disconcerting default.
