I just found that there is a difference between the notion of a large
desktop ("horizontal virtual size") and and that of virtual desktops in
the General Options section of ccsm. If you use the latter, then you
_can_ use the mouse wheel in the panel, and also drag windows around.But a large desktop in compiz is vastly superior to separate virtual desktops, so setting this is a bad workaround.
