Could you post the dmesg output from when you booted with the 'irqpoll'
option? Additionally, according to the Ubuntu Wiki page for the DV6000,
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/hp_dv6000_series_%28dv6116eu%29 , there is a
BIOS update that solves some problems in Ubuntu with the DV6000. Do you
have the most current version of the BIOS installed?
