I've run into a similar problem as everyone else here, running compiz- fusion with Feisty Fawn. Same type of freeze, the mouse will move but not respond to clicks or keybaord input, and sshing in still works. However I've only had it occur while resizing windows (though sometimes I can resize without any problems). I've got an Intel Mobile 945GM graphics card.
