Public bug reported: System: Kubuntu i386 Fresh feisty upgraded 1st october to gutsy Prism Chipset ISL3890/ISL3886 Kernel: 2.6.22-12-generic (anything else useful?)
Since upgrade to gutsy and 2.6.22-12-generic, my Wifi connection is best described as flaky : I have 512b/s ADSL - 64kb download max. And when i apt-get update it can take 30 minutes... i get speeds between 15kb/s and 2000b/s, with no error messages seen anywhere.... I dont have any messages about the connection dropping, nothing out of the ordinary in dmesg, but when i ping www.google.fr, for example, I get around 20% 50% packet loss, depending on tests... I didnt have this problem before with Feisty, and my ISP is functioning OK. When I plug in the ethernet cable to the router/modem, wifi is dropped and eth0 activated (nice :) ) and i have no loss with pings and I have a constant 64kb download, which rules out an upstream ISP problem. lspci -vv of my card: 05:09.0 Network controller: Intersil Corporation ISL3890 [Prism GT/Prism Duette]/ISL3886 [Prism Javelin/Prism Xbow] (rev 01) Subsystem: Z-Com, Inc.
