Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I have several desktop and laptop systems where I tryout and use Ubuntu
productively since 5.04.

One of those, a IBM ThinkPad iSeries 1400 2611 472 (sorry, long name
indeed), I recently upgraded to Gutsy.

Its a PII 266MHz 256MB 10GB, pretty old system, yet more than enough for
basic desktop applications (OpenOffice, Internet browsing).

Up to Feisty, it used to work grate up to 1024x768x24, now, it got king
of purple... it resembles an old analog 3d trick of getting a bit of
the blue to the left and of the red to the right.

Not so different to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/3731 but not the
same also. It workd at 1024x768x24 (purple) or 1024x768x16 (ok colors,
but something else wrong).

When I step down the color depth a bit, it kinds of work propperly, but
yet, not. It shows up the screen a little to much to the right (some
four or five pixels missing) and, at the same time, to the right of the
screen, it repeats the last four or five pixels.

Its usable, but wrong.

I could capture the screen but since the result is regarding the dispay
it self, not the redering of the screen, the final PNG image have not
presented the problem

It is fully up to date as up to Mon Oct 8 21:28:11 BRT 2007
