So i don't know what happened to Joseph as he seems to have gone silent for quite some time. I assume that means the bisecting is not going anywhere.
I tried doing a fresh install of 16.04 to see if that would help. It did not. Currently testing the current upstream intel nightly kernel. And while my system does not freeze every 10 min like it was after the fresh install it does freeze occasionally. I also noticed the strange output on this kernel install: W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/bxt_dmc_ver1_07.bin for module i915 W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/kbl_dmc_ver1_01.bin for module i915 W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/kbl_guc_ver9_14.bin for module i915 W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/bxt_guc_ver8_7.bin for module i915 W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/skl_guc_ver6_1.bin for module i915 My built in bluetooth does not work. Question to all of you still following this?! Do any or all of you use a SSD hard drive? Because i do. My SSD did not come with my laptop, i installed after the fact myself. I currently have a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB installed. I ask because i found this interesting related issue and the guy says his i915 freezing issues were related to his non- updated SSD firmware. I wonder if the same could be true for me. https://askubuntu.com/questions/689793/ubuntu-freezes- because-i915-graphics -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575467 Title: [Dell Inspiron 3451] WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 1297 at /build/linux-lts- utopic-vy2yyy/linux-lts- utopic-3.16.0/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c:1743 vlv_wait_port_ready+0x126/0x170 [i915]() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1575467/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
