Apparently one can install the archived driver with restricted installed as well.
When I do a full purge on all of the restricted bits, /sbin/lrm-video ceases to exist. This will result in X generating the "lrm-video" not found error when it attempts to load the NVidia module. modprobe nvidia will generate the same error. I wasn't able to get the nvidia module to take with the restricted packages installed -- the newly compiled libraries seemed to be awol. Followed the blacklisting technique as well. The commenting out of the line pertains only to installations without the restricted packages. -- Random NVidia Proprietary Driver Lynches / Lock-Ups https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145112 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
