Similar bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1578372 Please make system to respect "quiet nosplash" in /etc/default/grub for users that for some reason don't want to use plymouth. I installed plymouth-disabler package from repo (xenial) but it doesn't make any change. I am afraid of uninstalling plymouth package because it has dependences and I am afraid of crashing system.
