Although the title refers to Unity specifically, I'm afraid I have to submit a "me too" for Xubuntu 16.04. Coming from 14.04 I definitely have to report that the "light, non-fat" flavour became more heavy footed. We've some legacy systems that now use significantly more CPU and RAM (50% of 1.5G, where it was ~10%), often resulting in slower, or even no function, e.g. mplayer frame dropping, dropping out of sync, dropping subs, or just plainly failing to play video (resolution > screen size) that was perfectly fine on 14.04.
Addressing the elephant in the room: since this has been reported since the 16.04 roll out in April 2016 by multiple people, on various systems and flavours, how to address this and what activity is there on this? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1572801 Title: Ubuntu 16.04 Unity desktop uses much more ram than Ubuntu 15.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1572801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
