Similar symptoms as OP (although launched from menu, not CLI) in Ubuntu MATE 16.04. Adding the qml-module-org-kde-games-core package as indicated seems to have solved the problem for me as well. (BTW, auto-generated Ubuntu error dialog stated "duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1559714,"; which doesn't seem to exist?)
