You have been subscribed to a public bug: (1) I started trying out Ubuntu 15.04 and 16.04 about two months and a ew days ago respectively, in order to find out their new features. Normally I am a Ubuntu 12.04 and Linux Mint 17.1 user; both of which have performed very well and reliably through the years.
I do notice that 15.04's wifi bit rate is superior to that of 12.04's. Since I switched to a Verizon Quantum router, their respective rates have been 150 Mb/s and 70 Mb/s. My test computer is a 2013 Dell Lattitude D530 laptop. It took me no time to discover that both new Ubuntu releases would fail to shut down or restart systematically. The only way to shut down or restart the system is to depress the computer's power button long enough. Otherwise, Linux would just keep on moving the blinkers from left to right endlessly. I've read many similar reports on this so-called 'bug' at various Linux-support websites and on Google but none of the suggested solutions proved helpful to my particular case. I've posted an extensive thread about this bug on www.linuxquestions.org. I understand that any new release of an O.S. requires much time to debug and Ubuntu 15.04/16.04 are no exceptions. I'll appreciate hearing from https://bugs.launchpad.net about this particular matter. (2) I also hope that Launch Pad's old inefective web editor, which didn't allow the authoer of a post to edit it once it was published, has now been replaced with a standard one. I reported this matter a number of years ago but did not receive any meaningful response.
