Thank you for that extra info, Henry! So, with a minor bit of sleuthing, I figured out that you are using the opensuse repository rather than 'universe' for your owncloud-client. I was hoping to stick to the Ubuntu-maintained repository for consistency.
However, I can confirm that the owncloud-client (together with the libqt5keychain1) in the opensuse repository does solve the problem for me as well.
