I can confirm this. I have a server that backs up files from other
computers to a NAS device (it retrieves the files through CIFS and
stores on the NAS through NFS). After a bit of heavy copying, the
ethernet adapter locks up (the system is responsive, though I'm not sure
because it's headless, I just see log entries), but the ethernet device
will not accept or emit packets. It's a pretty serious bug. I worked
around it by setting large packet sizes and it worked for a bit, but now
it's back to broken.
