BTW, more recent versions of xz (5.2 and later) now have support for
multiple cores built-in -> bug 1493999

It was an easy backport, so I compiled trusty pixz for you, have a look
in my stable release PPA.

If it's similar smooth sailing, I'll see about backporting the yakkety
version as well.

As such, I'll close this ticket as fixed even if the package did not
make it to official precise.
