I looked to apply the Björn workaround and it is not possible for Gutsy. There's no qtrc file in the /etc/qt3 directory, only qt_plugins_3.3rc and this file doesn't contain above data.
The bug is actually filled for qt-x11-free package but that package isn't in the ubuntu repositories. I think that there would be a more appropriate Package for this bug than qt-x11-free.
