Additional information: The delayed start may be a Gnome issue, which does not affect all apps, e.g. Firefox and OpenOffice 2.3 (AFTER COMPLETE RE-INSTALL) do not have this issue, while Evolution (EVEN AFTER COMPLETE RE-INSTALL), gedit, terminal etc. do have this problem.
