Try: "XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 firefox" from a console. Works for me. I have had problems with both nedit and firefox+flash since upgrade to Edgy. The problems with nedit are related to composite-extension in xorg and the workaround above was provided by the nedit developers. Seems to work for firefox also.
