@seb128:
I tested with usd stopped per your recommendation and problem #2 as I described
my reproducer above doesn't hapen.

@marco:
I see how that patch could help and where you are going with this, but
unfortunately that doesn't do the trick. There are no events from either gdbus
monitor or udevadvm monitor when the keys are pressed.

During a lock cycle after the display turns off I get this output:
t@t-XPS-13-9350:~$ gdbus monitor --system --dest org.freedesktop.UPower
Monitoring signals from all objects owned by org.freedesktop.UPower
The name org.freedesktop.UPower is owned by :1.57
/org/freedesktop/UPower/KbdBacklight:
org.freedesktop.UPower.KbdBacklight.BrightnessChanged (0,)
/org/freedesktop/UPower/KbdBacklight:
org.freedesktop.UPower.KbdBacklight.BrightnessChanged (2,)

Nothing from udevadm monitor.

I am able to cat /sys/devices/platform/dell-
laptop/leds/dell::kbd_backlight at any time and get the right value that
reflects what the keys were set to.
