This is not a bug, it is a feature. All KDE apps use libcupsys2 to be able to print. This way they have full support to the functionality of CUPS. You can set all options of the driver and also all extra options from CUPS (like N pages per sheet, gamma adjustment, page selection, ...). As the KDE apps do not woprk at all if libcupsys2 is not installed there is a package dependency. And if you remove libcupsys and say "yes" to the question with the long, long list, all listed packages get removed.
To get rid of a package which does not smoothly update to its new version, override the package dependencies via sudo dpkg -r --force-depends libcupsys2 and then take care to install the new version of libcupsys2 to assure that your KDE apps will work again. ** Changed in: cupsys (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- apt-get remove libcupsys2 removed a LOT of apps + KDE https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149401 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
