Could Launchpad at least allow mirrors to specify https links on the mirror list? I find Tsinghua University mirror (http://mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/ubuntu/) redirects http to https, and two mirrors set HSTS headers when requested over HTTPS (https://mirrors.wikimedia.org/ubuntu/, https://mirrors.cat.pdx.edu/ubuntu/). I think if mirrors are willing to prefer or enforce HTTPS, Ubuntu should allow them to use https in their mirror's URL.
