Why lot of work? I just made it depend on virtual package libwayland-egl1 instead of current libwayland-egl1-mesa (>= 10.0.2) | libwayland-egl1 and that seemed to do the trick. That virtual package is provided by libwayland-egl1-mesa and all three libwayland-egl1-mesa-lts-* packages, so it should be fine.
