On the PPA: That page still has the old   "Adding this PPA to your
system" instructions more prominently.

Is this software not meant for the masses who want to contribute to a
hardware database, then?  I wish my Lenovo T450s would run better, but I
won't bother  with checkbox if it's not helping.

Also, I ran your command both ways, and the program asked me to "enter
password" using its own input dialog. It did this even when I ran it
with sudo from cli.  I consider that inappropriate and insecure
behaviour, so I stopped there.
