$ mysql --protocol=TCP --host localhost -u root -p ERROR 1698 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' which makes it appear like a bad password issue - there is no indication it is caused by the unix_socket change. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1561062 Title: Password not required for mysql root user (MariaDB) even when set To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mariadb-10.0/+bug/1561062/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
