Public bug reported:

After boot, the nvidia driver (nvidia-361 is the latest for my card)
fails to load. I get the failsafe splash screen for xorg. This is a
laptop with two video chips, so I can switch xorg to use the intel video
driver instead and it starts normally. If I issue

sudo modprobe nvidia

from a terminal, I get an error message:

insmod /lib/modules/4.2.0-34-generic/updates/dkms/nvidia_361.ko
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'nvidia_361': Invalid argument

I have tried the various proposed kernels going back to the last
released kernel where the driver worked (4.2.0-27) and found that
4.2.0-28 works, 4.2.0-29 does not.

The attached syslog excerpt is from the same time as the above error.
The same lines appear in kern.log and dmesg.

I have tried all of the above with the nvidia_352 driver, with the same
results.

** Affects: linux-lts-wily (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
