V B, regarding the mainline kernel test, it may be inconclusive due to
you not being able to test all the proprietary software simultaneously.

You may want to try http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ as an
alternative environment so you may test all proprietary software, and
provide an additional data point.
