Public bug reported: The Xenial server installation iso (at least as of 2016-02-22) doesn't contain the zfs-utils package, so the user can't prepare his/her disks manually for ZFS during installation.
While installing ZFS may not be something to be done through the installer allowing an (advanced) user the option to pop to a console and configure ZFS nonetheless seems like a good idea (for example as it will allow installing root on ZFS, see e.g. https://github.com/zfsonlinux /pkg-zfs/wiki/HOWTO-install-Ubuntu-16.04-to-a-Native-ZFS-Root- Filesystem). Currently I do see a btrfs-tools udeb package in /pool/main on the iso, but no zfs-utils package. As a side note, the zfs kernel module is included in the iso, so running modprobe zfs works, a parted udeb is available, so we're more than halfway there ;-). ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: zfs -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1548310 Title: [ZFS] zfs-utils missing during server install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1548310/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
