I also have this problem. Without WACOM support, none of the graphic artists whose machines I administer can switch from Windows to Ubuntu.
What I've tried: Gimp InkScape Gogh Krita None of them work with the tablet, so about half of my user base cannot use Ubuntu. You may not think having a wacom tablet is all that important to Linux adoption, but over half of the machines that I administer require it.
