I too have this problem, for me the hardware details are: OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL renderer string: GeForce 7300 GS/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW! OpenGL version string: 2.1.1 NVIDIA 100.14.19
GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is being used here unfortunately mine is on a fresh install of Gutsy beta+update on 30/9/07. the important thing is that I too am as yet unable to pinpoint the exact cause of the hard lock.
