Please fill separate reports for each bug in the future. Otherwise it is quite hard to keep track of them.
Actually there seem to be an issue with your /etc/X11/xorg.conf. It doesn't seem to be readable. Please append the output of the following commands: xset q ls -lh /etc/X11/xorg.conf The "you need administrative rights" dialog was fixed: It was shown if the config file could not be accessed or was missing. Since displayconfig-gtk starts its fallback mode I suggest that the file does not exist. In fallback mode displayconfig-gtk cannot detect the resolutions from your screen. Youhave to specify a monitor model. This will be fixed in Gutsy+1. With the following command you can recreate your xorg.conf: sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg Furthermore I would suggest displayconfigt-gtk to the latest version in Gutsy. ** Changed in: displayconfig-gtk (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Summary changed: - Screens and Graphics Tool Claims User Lacks Privileges and Fails to Show Correct Resolution + Cannot access xorg.conf -- Cannot access xorg.conf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/146555 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
