Since Ubuntu 15.10, we have a regression: Suspend to RAM never works,
the workaround with first suspending to disk no longer works. I have
tested this with both the current Ubuntu kernel (4.2.0-22-generic
#27-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 17 22:57:08 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64
GNU/Linux) and the latest kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v4.4-rc5-wily/ (4.4.0-040400rc5.201512140221).

With Arch Linux on the same machine, suspend to RAM works after
hibernate, so this looks like a regression introduced with Ubuntu Wily.
What has changed with suspend-resume from 15.04 to 15.10?
