This is similar to bug #96036. It's been around for a while it seems.

This problem occurs in the gutsy beta also. I am not using the live CD.

As soon as Ubuntu loads to the login screen the dinovo edge keyboard and
mouse stop responding. For me re-seating the dongle had no effect. I was
able to get it working so i could login by powering off and back on the
keyboard using the switch on the right hand side of the keyboard.

Once I logged on the keyboard and mouse worked fine. Only if I rebooted
did the problem reoccur. My lsusb was normal once I was logged on.

However, when I pulled the dongle out, and ran lsusb using another
keyboard, lsusb would not display anything... it would just sit at a
blinking cursor. When I plugged the dongle back in, it was the same
problem as original, in that I had to then power off the keyboard and
power it back on, and it would still not display lsusb output. I would
have to reboot to get it to display again.

The permanent fix for me was to uninstall "bluez-utils" using Synaptic
Packet Manager. Although to be truthful, I don't know much about the
live cd, but if you load ubuntu to your hard drive, then remove the
"bluez-utils" package, your keyboard should work normally. At least it
worked for me.
