I found a similar Issue now. I think it appeared when OpenOffice was
upgraded to 2.2.0-1ubuntu4 (swedish version) because I switched to
Feisty.

My case was:
1. Check the menu item Show ->Toolbars -> Insert, so that "Insert"-toolbar
appears.
2. Click the insert formula button (or from menu Insert -> Object -> Formula,
so the formula editor opens and all toolbars change/hide (because of formula
editing mode).
3. Type anything or nothing.
4. Click the main document to close the formula editor.
5. The usual toobars reappear, but (BUG) not the "Insert"-toolbar. There is a
hole where I had it docked.

I have probably located the same bug at OOo's site:
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=76662
It was marked as fixed July 6, 2007. But I don't understand in what version.
Can any Ubuntu-person tell me when that version will be found and installed via
apt-get/Synaptic/Update manager ?
Is it advisable to download OO.org's latest version as a separate package and
install to get rid of this bug?
