Public bug reported:

I've made a clean install of Ubuntu 7.10 beta, and installed the nvidia
drivers from restricted-manager (I have a GeForce 6600, 128MB)

The problem is that when I try to play any file in any video player I've
tested (vlc, mplayer, xine) it gives the same result, horizontal colored
lines, while the audio can be heard. It's not a codec problem because
I've tried several kinds of files, but seems to be an Xv problem,
because if I set, for example, VLC, to use the X11 output module, It
works (but it's not a solution because it looks pixelated).

The bug doesn't always happen, when you restart the X server and log in,
it seems to work, but after some time (I don't know yet what causes it)
videos just don't play any longer.

This occurs either with visual effects turned on or off, it makes no
difference
