Public bug reported: After #1421583 was fixed, there is now an option to share data connection using WiFi AP. However, I still rely on USB tethering in many cases instead of WiFi. The latest example was when I was without firmware for WiFi adapter after installing Debian 8.2. Luckily Nexus 5 with Android 6.0 offered an option to use USB tethering and I was able to fetch firmware.
Please add an option to have USB tethering in ubuntu-system-settings. This option shouldn't offer anything else than a simple "On/Off" switch. The interface itself should act as an Ethernet interface, the same way as Android does. ** Affects: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521082 Title: Allow users to connect to the Internet using USB tethering To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1521082/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
