Public bug reported: In the midst of upgrading to Ubuntu Desktop 15.10 on 2 different computers, each connected to different electrical circuit and a different, separate UPS, a Critical Low Battery Warning was displayed, followed shortly by a power-off shutdown. In both cases the installed kernel was present in GRUB, but would not load. I was unable to start any kernel normally in GRUB, but I was able to make a Recovery restart with the previous kernel in GRUB and complete the upgrade.
