I'm checking in if there is any progress on this. I tried installing the Nvidia drivers point to the nVidia website in the link above. The installation went fine but it's not using the nVidia driver. I followed the instruction of running nvidia-xconfig but it doesn't change anything.
I would love to be able to use the drivers that comes with Mint or Ubuntu but any attempt in installing a distro that uses a kernel higher than 3.18 gives similar issues.
