More on the issue: as of today, every time the computer is rebooted one has to manually
$ rm -rf ~/.gtk* for firefox not to hang. The crashs is so bad the entire Xorg goes crazy (in mmeory and chip usage) and one has to control+alt+F2 and login from a tty and killall -KILL firefox-bin . Except for this, firefox works great.
