Python Fabric currently does not work on Python 3.
In this issue ( https://github.com/fabric/fabric/issues/1378 ),
Mathias Ertl gave a pointer to his port of Fabric to Python 3 (
https://github.com/mathiasertl/fabric/ ).
This is a very full port and passes all the tests. I have tried out this port
in my own system, and it works well
with my existing set of scripts which use Fabric.
The upstream maintainer is refusing to accept patches, because those patches
remove support for Python 2.5.
Also, the maintainer is working on a newer package which has Python 3 support,
but that package is not ready yet.
A lot of people use Fabric for scripting remote SSH execution,
especially in automation environments.
For Ubuntu, is there a policy for taking patches for Python packages which help
the Python 3 effort,
even if the upstream maintainer is refusing them?
