Hi Joseph,
the issue started happening after the upgrade from 15.04 to wily.
Before I would have freezes only when unplugging a usb hard drive and
they were related to powersave tools pm-powersave, laptop-mode. The
current freezes also only seem to only happen when on battery so they
might also be related to powersave issues.
The only other thing I noticed is that I find a certain sequence of
events related to the Network Manager renewing the DHCP lease in the
logs shortly before the crash. At this point the Network manager resets
the device MPU and the system MPU value and seems to fail at some point.
But it could still be coincidence.
I will look at trying out the new kernels but obviously I will be
running into a problem because I am using proprietary Broadcom WIFI
drivers that have to be uninstalled before changing the kernel. I will
have to first make sure that I have the files to reinstall them after a
kernel upgrade. I am not sure which files they are and were to fin them.
Looking at the above DHCP/MTU issues this driver might even be connected
to the problem.
Kind Regards
Thomas
