kubuntu 15.10 has been running fine. Today there was a set of kernel reboots
available from 4.2.0.16 to 4.2.0.17
After rebooting, X did not comes.
console still works
Logging into the console and running startx fails
dpkg-reconfigure xorg does nothing
booting to the previous kernel succeeds but has the same symptoms
booting with a live disk works fine, so the problem is not with the hardware
I assume the update stepped on some config files for X11 -- what should I be
looking at in the brave new world of systemd?
How do I reconfigure the Xserver? or copy the settings over from the livedisk
environment?
And how do we make sure this doesn't happen again the next time there is a
kernel update?
