Situation is getting worse, cannot even get plasmashell up without a freeze, writing this on a live CD. I suspect this was from the disk, but if that cache is on a disk, it is not on the suspect disk, and I am beginning to suspect smartctl more than the disks.I would like to get back up, make sure xrender is chosen and disable all desktop effects. Should be better behaved.The kwin fix was OK until I rebooted, then plasmashell would not start so removed the file.
