This bug also refers to the Trevino compiz rather than the Ubuntu version. However, I have a similar problem with the ubuntu gutsy version. When I login from gdm, compiz crashes (after taking an age to come up). I restart it from the command line, and everything works fine. I have an ATI XPRESS 200M, using the fglrx driver with xgl.
