I don't know if this is related, but on fresh home directory (not fresh
install), when changing the settings in the "Visual Effects" from Normal
to Extra leaves me without window borders. Going to the Config Manager
and enabling the Window Decoration Plugin in the "Effects"-section gives
me window borders.

As I'm running a quite "old" gutsy system, this may be because of wrong
default gconf settings. James, maybe you woant to check if activating
the window decoration plugin gives you borders again.
