I think that this bug is not low importance. Just search Google to see how many people are trying to solve this problem with hacking around and waisting time to solve this.
Unfortunately you can't disable sound menu integration any more in VLC and neither have I found a related setting in Rhythmbox. To be honest I haven't seen any media player where I was able to configure sound menu integration. >From what I have seen a media player has either no sound menu integration or >if it has one you can't disable it. So it turns out that the idea that "applications have UI to disable integration" was not realized in practice. Currently the only way for VLC to remove the integration I have found is: sudo mv -vi /usr/lib/vlc/plugins/control/libdbus_plugin.so /usr/lib/vlc/plugins/control/libdbus_plugin.so.backup Is this really a good way to go?
