I think its more related to the GTK theme.. Dosen't crash if compiz is enabled and I am using the human gtk theme. I have tried several different GTK themes with and with out compiz.. The only one I have success with is the default human theme.. Possible the human theme has stuff in it that most themes don't include.. Firefox/Thunderbird doesn't seem to crash for me here.. But then again, I haven't gone though all the menus to see if there was a glitch..
