I forgot to mention that this fresh install of Gutsy also included installing Grub manually at install time and Grub works fine... I followed this guide: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FakeRaidEdgy tbh, I'm more or less a linux newbie and it took me ages to notice that within the memtest .deb package part of the script calls: update-grub which from part of the FakeRaidEdgy guide didn't work for me and the workaround was to call the following instead: exec -a update-grub /usr/sbin/update-grub.real $* This gave me the idea to manually download the updated memtest .deb package myself and modify the "update-grub" line to the above. Installing this modified memtest .deb works fine... After that, running update manager now no longer reports any errors! :-D -- failure to remove/upgrade memtest86+ https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/132328 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
