Dear Linux Customer Service, First of all I have Ubuntu 15.04 installed and I don't know if because this is beta, it doesn't have cups installed, but these are the messages I have been getting, i.e. no such file, no such directory, etc. Please look at the Terminal responses I have been getting using the Ubuntu help page with cups instructions. Please let me know if they are correct instructions, or faulty because I am getting no where fast trying to get this HP Laserjet 1018 to work on this OS. Please let me know, Thank you, Joseph Florio --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ $ wget http://people.canonical.com/~pitti/tmp/cups.upstart.debug $: command not found joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ sudo cp /etc/init/cups.conf{,.orig} [sudo] password for joeinslw: joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ sudo cp cups.upstart.debug /etc/init/cups.conf cp: cannot stat ‘cups.upstart.debug’: No such file or directory joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ sudo stop cups stop: Unable to connect to Upstart: Failed to connect to socket /com/ubuntu/upstart: Connection refused joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ sudo start cups start: Unable to connect to Upstart: Failed to connect to socket /com/ubuntu/upstart: Connection refused joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ /tmp/log bash: /tmp/log: No such file or directory joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ sudo /usr/sbin/cupsd joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ sudo mv /etc/cups/cupsd.conf ~ joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ pt-get download cups No command 'pt-get' found, did you mean: Command 'apt-get' from package 'apt' (main) pt-get: command not found joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ apt-get download cups Get:1 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid-updates/main cups amd64 2.0.2-1ubuntu3.2 [166 kB] Fetched 166 kB in 0s (323 kB/s) joeinslw@joeinslw-70AQ0009UX:~$ sudo dpkg -i --force-confmiss cups_*.deb (Reading database ... 194716 files and directories currently installed.)
